Ce porte-piles conçu exclusivement pour l'OM SYSTEM OM-1 offre les mêmes commandes en position verticale qu'en position horizontale. Il offre une construction étanche à la poussière et aux éclaboussures IP53 lorsqu'il est utilisé avec l'OM SYSTEM OM-1. L'utilisation conjointe de deux batteries rechargeables BLX-1 Lithium-Ion dans l'appareil et du HLD-10 permet de prendre environ 1 000 photos (d'après les tests du CIPA). Lorsqu'elle est fixée à l'OM SYSTEM OM-1, la batterie rechargeable BLX-1 au lithium-ion peut être chargée à l'intérieur du HLD-10.
